In 2013, S.B. 150 repealed Chapter 7, Savings and Loan Associations, of Title 7, Section 7-1-206, removing the Savings and Loans Associations charter as an option for state-chartered depository institutions.
The federal saving & loans and out-of-state federal savings & loans with Utah branches are chartered, regulated, supervised, and examined by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
Deposits of savings & loans operating within the state are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
